ROADWORTHY CERTIFICATE

Nota Motors is an accredited VicRoads testing centre for Roadworthy Certificates. A roadworthy inspection checks a vehicle to ensure that key components aren’t worn or deteriorated and that it is safe for use on Victorian roads.

In Victoria a Roadworthy Certificate is required when a vehicle is being sold. The owner of the vehicle must provide a current Roadworthy Certificate to the buyer, unless the buyer is a spouse or a motor vehicle trader.

A vehicle can be sold without an RWC (Roadworthy Certificate) if it is not registered. If a used vehicle is being re-registered a current Roadworthy Certificate is required. In some cases a Roadworthy Certificate is needed to clear a vehicle defect notice. You can book online for an inspection and to get Roadworthy Certificate cost / estimate from Nota Motors.

WHAT IS INSPECTED?

A roadworthy inspection checks a vehicle to ensure that key components aren’t worn or deteriorated and that it is safe for use. It will mainly cover major safety related items:

  • Wheels and tyres
  • Steering, suspension and braking systems
  • Seats and seat belts
  • Lamps and reflectors
  • Windscreen and windows including front windscreen wipers and washers
  • The structure of the vehicle itself
  • Other safety related items on the body, chassis or engine

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CERTIFICATE DOES NOT MEAN

  • That the vehicle is in top notch condition
  • Non-safety related parts like air conditioning, electric windows etc are functioning properly
  • That items checked during an inspection will continue to function after the inspection

The roadworthiness test is not a check of a vehicle’s mechanical reliability or overall condition. If your vehicle needs a comprehensive check then you should arrange for a Pre Purchase Inspection. For peace of mind when purchasing a used vehicle, you can rely on Nota Motors. Our vehicle inspections are conducted at our premises by qualified diesel mechanics. Once the inspection is completed, you will receive a report that informs you of the overall condition of the vehicle based on an in-depth examination of components.
